Boy on Waikiki Beach

Located at the eastern end of Waikiki Beach, Walls is a popular spot among locals and tourists alike. It's named after the man-made seawall that runs along the beach, which creates a break in the waves that is perfect for surfing and bodyboarding.

But Walls is more than just a great spot for water sports. It's also a hub of activity. Onlookers can watch the surfers and bodyboarders ride the waves, or have a sat on the stone wall and talk story. The surrounding beach is also always buzzing with activity, from impromptu beach volleyball games, picnics and sunbathers.

It was from this very wall that I watched an adorable boy run back and forth in the shore break. He was having a ball! Laughing up a storm and throwing his arms up in celebration. Celebration of what you ask? No clue, life perhaps? The shining sun, the warm waves, just everything.

This shot, “Boy on Waikiki Beach,” is taken from my first roll of the magically mysterious Lomopurple. It’s the purple film stock from Lomography that shifts greens to purple, blue to pink, and more. This is a recent roll I purchased directly from Lomography of the 2019 emulsion. There is a newer 2021 LomoChrome Purple Pétillant emulsion that I would like to try as well.

Limited Edition Prints are available.
