“If Found” Tattoo
Just shy of her 70th birthday, my mom, Susan Cho, got her first tattoo inspired by safety and her well-being, rather than trends or aesthetics.
"I always read in the newspaper or hear of someone that is missing or lost from their family. So while I’m in sound mind…I’m getting this done for me." The tattoo lists my contact information, a lifeline for unforeseen circumstances:
“if found . . .
Lisa K Cho

In a heartfelt note to tattoo artist Steven Lam, mom said: "I feel so much better that I finally have this and know that my family can find me. You now hold a very special place in my heart."
We hope this story encourages others to be proactive as they age. Whether it's the use of wearable devices like an iWatch, a medical alert bracelet, or in mom’s case, a personal tattoo, we hope everyone finds ways to safeguard their well-being, and in this case, be reunited.
